Rock n´ Rose

Autumn is definitely my season, leaving the terrible heat of the tropic to get in a state where is possible and socially acceptable to use warmer clothes. The makeup is also back and you can use it without getting a “cake” face and looking like you decided to use oil as a moisturizer. Tell me about it, I have oily skin. I shine and not in a pleasant way.

Definitivamente Otoño es la estación para mí, saliendo del infernal calor que genera el trópico para entrar en un estado donde es posible y socialmente aceptable utilizar suéteres o prendas que te abriguen más. El maquillaje también regresa, y puedes utilizarlo sin sentir que el calor derrite tu cara haciéndola lucir más pesada como si hubieras untado aceite en ella durante el día. Dímelo a mí que tengo cutis graso o como lo quieran ver, yo brillo. Y no necesariamente en una forma agradable.

Colour changes too in A/W and usually we get darker and less bright. However, is really interesting to see how fashion finds a way to “break” the rules. A big example: The pink. (Rose)

El color es algo que también cambia, otoño e invierno son usualmente sinónimos de colores con matices más oscuros y menos brillo. Sin embargo, es interesante ver como la moda busca "romper" un poco a veces las reglas. Un gran ejemplo: El Rosa.

To be fair I have never been a big fan of this intense and beloved colour. I even have to admit I use to hate it since back in the days I was forced to use a bright pink (a.k.a. Mexican Pink) as part of my graduation dress and match the other girls.

Personalmente nunca he sido adepta de este intenso y amado color. Debo admitir incluso que llegue a odiarlo, desde el momento en que a mis 15 años fui obligada a utilizar un rosa muy llamativo (a.k.a. Rosa Mexicano) como parte de mi vestido de graduación para combinar con la chamacada.

And who doesn´t love to look like the others, right?

Y que más quisiera uno que verse igual que los demás, ¿cierto?.

But I must confess that during the last year the pink and I started a secret relationship. She promised not to make me suffer again and showed me a totally different side of her: A charming, elegant and flamboyant side (in the best sense of the word not like the disaster in 2005).

Sin embargo, debo confesar que durante el último año, el rosa y yo comenzamos un relación secreta. Ella prometió no volverme a hacer sufrir y me mostró un lado totalmente diferente: Un lado encantador, elegante y llamativo (en el buen sentido, no como el desastroso incidente del 2005).

And in return she gave me a name: Rose Gold.

Y a cambio me dio su nombre y apellido: Rose Gold.

I know plenty people have known this colour by now and I proudly can say our relationship will soon have a year anniversary. That´s why I decided to give her an opportunity and acknowledge her. Kind of like a debutant ball.

Yo se que muchas deben ya haberla conocido y otras apenas se han ido presentando. Felizmente puedo decir que nuestra relación ya va para el año. Y es por eso que decidí darle una oportunidad y presentarla ante la sociedad. Algo así como su baile de debutante.

At the beginning we saw her in accessories like jewelry (who can forgot those MK watches), belts clutches, sunglasses… we can see her even in makeup, nail polishes and shoes.

Inicialmente la hemos visto en accesorios como la joyería (quien puede olvidar esos relojes Michael Kors), luego en cinturones, clutches, lentes de sol... ha hecho acto de presencia incluso en el maquillaje, esmaltes y zapatos.

I recently remember myself looking for a pair of golden rose platform and bothering every attendee around me: “No metallic pink or bronze”.

Recuerdo apenas el hincapié que le hacia a todos los vendedores cuando estaba buscando un par de sandalias rose gold: "No rosa metálico o bronce".

Indeed, the difference may be a little hard to be notice at first sight for many people but more than looking at it is feeling it, is like ordering Coke and getting Pepsi instead, many will tell you is the same but you know it´s not. You just know.

Y si, la diferencia puede ser difícil de notar para muchos a primera vista pero más que verlo es sentirlo, es como tomar Coca Cola y obtener Pepsi o Big Cola a cambió, muchos te dirán que es lo mismo pero solo tú sabes que no. Simplemente lo sabes.

And yes, rose gold has different shades in it but that pink and gold combined are perfectly noticeable although they are very subtle.

Y sí, el rose gold tiene muchas tonalidades dentro de su categoría pero ese rosa y oro combinados son perceptibles, a pesar de la sutileza con la que se maneja.

The rose gold came to stay and it has open us a world of possibilities to combine and contrast with our outfits, to pick from our jewellery and I must say I wouldn´t be surprise to find it as a hair colour in a near future with success (we have seen very attempts already but in my personal opinion is has not succeed yet).

El rose gold vino para quedarse y nos ha abierto un mundo de posibilidades para combinar y contrastar nuestros outfits, elegir nuestra joyería e incluso no me sorprendería encontrar que logren ponerlo en un futuro muy cercano en algún tinte para el cabello de forma exitosa (que ya se han visto varios intentos pero en mi opinión ninguno lo ha logrado aún).

Definitely this trend is one of my all time favourites, you can wear it by its own or mix it with other textures and colours to give it a feminine and classy touch.

Definitivamente esta tendencia es una de mis favoritas, se puede llevar sola o combinarla con otras texturas o colores para darle un toque de feminidad y clase a todo.

The rose gold is like chocolate; a totally necessary evil and you can never have enough.

El rose gold es como el chocolate, un mal totalmente necesario y nunca puedes tener suficiente.
